Mila Espag Lock Description

Window espag locks are often called uPVC window locks or window locking mechanisms.
These window locks are made by Mila, and are the new design lock for the old discontinued Mila window lock. They are a stronger and more robust design than the old lock.

The old Mila window locks were used by several window manufacturers over the years including Munster Joinery and Senator Windows. The old version of the mila window lock is now obsolete. The position of the roller locks and screw holes on the new Mila window locks are slightly different than to the old mila window locks. You will just have to reposition the keeps on the frame to suit the new position of the roller locks.

Mila Lock Size Guide

On the old Mila window lock there will be a code stamped along the faceplate of the lock. The code will be GR and a number (eg. GR100). This is the code for the length of the lock.

We stock the four most common sizes:

  • 400mm  – (equivalent to GR40)  – for a sash between (450mm – 600mm) – 2 rollers cams
  • 600mm – (equivalent to GR60) – for a sash between (650mm – 800mm) – 2 roller cams
  • 800mm – (equivalent to GR80) – for a sash between (850mm – 1000mm) – 2 roller cams
  • 1000mm – (equivalent to GR100) – for a sash between (1050mm – 1200mm) – 3 roller cams
  • 1200mm – (equivalent to GR120) – for a sash between (1250mm – 1400mm) – 3 roller cams

Old Mila Lock Comparison

Old GR40 measured 350mm long
Old GR60 measured 550mm long
Old GR80 measured 750mm long
Old GR100 measured 950mm long
Old GR120 measured 1150mm long

Next check the backset of the lock. Get a measuring tape and measure from the edge of the faceplate to the centre of the handle. The most common sizes will be 20mm or 22mm. Alternatively, you can remove the lock from the window. On the lockcase of the lock the size will usually be stamped. Eg. 22. Note: If your backset measures 19mm, please choose 20mm.
